Milo bought a used record player the other day and we treated ourselves to new record albums from the independent record shop Rise in Bristol. What an amazing feeling! I've never bought a record album before and I feel totally hooked. Our modern experience with music has become so distant and digitalized, we don't ever feel or touch or MP3s and the experience of buying and listening to music is no longer a tactile, sensory experience.
But, oh, buying vinyl is so deliciously different. Walking to the shop, dreaming about which album I was going to buy. Thumbing the albums on the racks, as I questioned which one was going to be the lucky one to come home with me that night! Having a record player has brought the sensory experience back into my musical adventures.
